A press release for the 4th anniversary of a web company. (Name of Website) Celebrates 4 Years of Assisting Substance Abusers Get Help Four years ago, (name of website )was launched by (client) with three pages of links designed to help alcoholics and other substance abusers find help recovering from addiction. Today, the site lists almost 3,000 recovery resources divided into 60 categories and gets between 8- and 10,000 visitors every day. “There are literally millions of substance abusers,” (client), a former drug and alcohol counselor and program manager for a dual-diagnosis sober living program said. “Few of them are able to recover without help. I wanted to use cyberspace to offer the needed resources. The web means people can find help 24/7.” Addicts and their family and friends find links to every sort of recovery program imaginable, from the well-known 12 Step Groups to a large selection of 12 Step alternatives. There are links to support groups, treatment centers, sober living centers, mental health associations, even recovery books and music. Over time, (website) has garnered a positive response from professionals dealing with addictive behavior. They are able to link up with other professional, find the right sort of treatment center for their clients and refer their clients to the site, knowing they will get solid and helpful information. (Website) isn’t limited to providing help for substance abusers; addictive behaviors like gambling, sexual behavior are addressed as are mental conditions like attention deficit disorders and schizophrenia. Teens and Addiction Teens are probably the fastest growing portion of the population effected by drugs and alcohol. In 2002, some 17 million teenagers suffered from dependency or addiction. “Young people get trapped before they even know what hit them,” (client) said. “For those unwilling or unable to talk to their parents or other adults, (website) provides a source of confidential, life-saving information.” Not Just Links Although links make up the bulk of the resources offered at (website), there are also active forums, dealing with everything from alcoholism to women in recovery. All forums are moderated, and recently two new forums have been added that are staffed by experts and authors. "It's not uncommon for people to make their commitment to recovery in the dead of night," says (client). "The forums are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so when someone is ready to call it quits they are apt to find someone there to help them on the road to recovery." Asked about his plans for the future, (client) said, “The site, which is now advertiser supported, almost has a life of it’s own. I can see nothing but continued growth.
